Purposeful Resolutions: Part 2

In my last post I talked about my resolutions and why, despite my dislike for them, I made three this year. My first and biggest resolution was to live without fear. With that in mind, I plan to live by the motto “Fuck fear! Go for it!” for the rest of 2016 and beyond. It’s a bit crude, but I’ve never admitted to being meek and mild 🙂

So, the question is: What am I doing about it?

Well, I used that motto when I booked an unusual (for me) trip to Costa Rica (thanks Southwest Luv vouchers!). I admit, a trip to Costa Rica is nothing significant. It seems everyone is doing it these days. What is significant, though, is that I’m going on this trip solo. After hearing all the amazing stories about Costa Rica, seeing all the beautiful snaps and pictures of my friends enjoying their time there, I’ve been having the strongest desire to experience it myself. After a day of thinking about it, I went for it. Would I love a companion to experience all the beauty of Costa Rica with? Of course! But I knew that if I waited to see if the dates and finances worked for someone*, I’d be letting that determine my actions. But, more importantly, I’d be living with fear. Fear of being in an unknown country alone, fear of being in an unknown country, where I don’t speak the language, alone, fear of eating alone, fear of drinking alone, fear of dancing alone…Well, I think you get the point. And, while some of these are important things to worry about, it’s not enough to stop me. So, I guess there’s just one thing left to say. PURA VIDA!

*Turns out they didn’t.

As much as I’d love to claim this beautiful picture as my own. They can be found on, where they have a wide range of free stock photos available for your use.
